South Windsor Voices
South Windsor Voices: The town of South Windsor is looking for residents who have something to say….in verse, that is! The Steering Committee for a planned book of poetry written entirely by South Windsor residents, is inviting members of the community to submit poems for inclusion in South Windsor Voices: An Anthology of Poetry. Those submitting poetry must be town residents. Poems will be accepted from May 1st~ through October 31st with publication of the anthology planned for 2011. Selection of the poems for the booklet will be made by a jury of experienced poets. Residents who are interested in participating in the project can review submission guidelines on the town website at www.southwindsor.org For questions concerning the guidelines, please contact Sandy at meledeo2@cox.net , or 860-644-0049. For questions about the project, please contact Charles Margolis at 860-644-0697. South Windsor Voices: An Anthology of Poetry is the inspiration of South Windsor’s Poet Laureate, Charles Margolis. Margolis is a published poet and former art teacher was named to the position late last year by Mayor John Pelkey. He developed the idea as a way to share his love of poetry with the community and to give residents a vehicle for artistic expression.
Since early this year, a committee of town residents with expertise in areas such as poetry, education, media, art, and printing has been working to develop plans for the poetry booklet. Those serving on the committee are Charles Margolis as chair, along with Mayor John Pelkey, Bonnie Barile, Cile Decker, Mary Etter, Pat Greaves, Elizabeth McGuire, Debbie Midford, Sheryl O’Connor, Sandy Olson, Daria Plummer and Joan Warnick.
